I love a clean house, don't you? I love the sight and smells of my house all fresh and sparkling clean. I have a routine that I go through during the work week to make sure it all stays orderly, and then on the weekend I clean like a mad woman. Usually I have to deep clean the boys bathroom in the middle of the week also because, well, they are BOYS! On Fridays as soon as I get home I get BUSY! I clean one room at a time starting with the living room, then the kitchen, den, bathrooms, and bedrooms. Of course I do straighten the boys bedrooms throughout the week or it would take me all day. I also do at least 2 loads of laundry most days, so that I don't have to kill myself on my days off. I try not to clean on Saturdays but it is usually inevitable. Why am I blogging about this you ask?
Well for starters I am home today with Joe Braden, who has strep once again, so I am using today as my cleaning day. Secondly I have one HUGE cleaning issue that I would love some advice on. If one room constantly suffers it is MY room. Seriously the whole house will look neat and orderly until you open my door and it is just scary! I find myself running out of time so I neglect that room. I am constantly putting overflow stuff in there and it just gets overwhelming. I clean it usually once a week, but sometimes it is every two. So my question is this, How do I stay disciplined in making my room a priority too?

Ya know..I struggle w/ my room too, so I'll wait to read from your other commenters to get that answer myself. LOL!
thanks for the reminder that i need to clean. i love a clean house, but i am not a big fan of the cleaning.
When we moved into our new house 2 yrs ago, my room and closet became the overflow room until last month. I'd had enough! I took the Christmas money that my mom and grandmothers had given me and bought a bunch of storage bins. I totally redid my closet and got rid of a ton of stuff--I'm pretty sure we had 5 garbage bags full! Half I threw away and the other half I gave to my mom to sell at her yard sale. I've still got some messy bookshelves to contend with but I feel so much better to have that clutter out of my life!
Well now that seems to be the million dollar question around these parts, too. Seriously - my room looks like a train wreck most days and I just blow it off because we're NEVER in there until our heads crash onto the pillows, and I just keep the door shut if I don't want to see it. So I don't know what the answer should be - maybe we should write it on our calendars to give it a deep clean twice a month - the 1st and 15th or something. Because really - the master bedroom should be a "haven" according to all the decorating shows out there. :-)
Oh, this is a problem I have as well - my room also is the "stash everything in room". If you figure out this answer - let me know, please. I hope Joe Braden feels better soon - strep going around her too.
Take care and see you soon - Kellan
I am the same way so I don't have any advice for you. I can't even find the time to make my bed in the morning. I should have my husband do it because he wakes up after I do. I try to keep my house straightened up too. I usually find myself doing the same chores every day.
Before Chance and I climb into bed, we usually do a little picking up of our room. It's an every night thing and what we don't pick up one night, gets picked up the next. As long as we do a once-over every evening it stays pretty clean.
Hope this helps!
